Applying Agile Principles to Home Renovation Projects - Anyone Done This?

#1

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how Agile principles don’t just apply to software teams. They translate surprisingly well to physical projects like home renovations too. I recently went through a kitchen renovation and the parallels were honestly striking.

The contractor I used, which I found through Oakville Kitchen Experts, worked in clearly defined phases without ever using the word “sprint.” They broke everything down into demo, plumbing rough-in, cabinet installation, countertops, and finishing work. Each phase had a defined outcome before the next one began, which felt very much like iterative delivery with a working increment at each stage.

What impressed me most was the transparency throughout the process. No hidden fees, regular check-ins, and clear communication at every step. It reminded me of what a healthy Scrum team looks like when it is actually functioning well.

Has anyone else applied Agile thinking outside of software, particularly in construction or home improvement contexts? I would love to hear how you handled planning, stakeholder feedback, and managing scope creep in a physical project setting.
