As always, well crafted @andycleff! Your post makes me realize that we use story telling in many different aspects beyond just the workplace. In the end it is because story telling is the easiest way to drive conversation, and gather a shared understanding of the objectives.

Enjoyed your article x100. People ask me all the time what makes a great user story and I tell them “a great conversation”.

Amazing how many people don’t get the importance of a conversation as a means to paint a picture of the user story in question. I observe my env here at the Client site alot and its amazing how much we rely on digital means of communicating a requirement. Even more amazing how difficult it is to get people to talk.

We sit in a bullpen formation and people still communicate to each other via IM even though they are 10ft from each other.
