Iterative Waterfall isn't Agile

Saw this online today and thought it was a great article.

I’ve seen this many times and it seems difficult for some companies to break.

This is a great article. Recently I heard someone say they’ve seen a lot of teams working in timeboxes and ceremonies but not a lot of actual agile software development. The article reminded me of that quote.

I definitely have seen this a few times in Command and Control organizations that aren’t really ready to embrace agile so they try to make it fit without changing the existing organization. Or organizations that are just getting started with agile and haven’t really internalized it yet. They continue running projects as they always have, not really iterating and getting customer feedback. Everything has to be right the first time so it leads to detailed specifications up front and falling back into waterfall processes.
